impossiballet

(2019, participatory project for families)

impossiballet is a participatory project to create playful dance video clips for families. The participants dance to a well-know dance tune (ballet, disco or Ceilidh). Each tune, however, consists of parts with different speeds: normal speed, extremely slowly, super fast, backwards.

The participants’ dance is filmed. The video clip is then edited part by part so that the soundtrack now sounds normal all the way. This makes a unique video woven with amazing movements that are humorously fast, oddly backwards or beautifully slow.

impossiballet playfully explores what we see (and what we don’t see) in live performance.
