Size Matters is a wildly inventive new show. Blending puppetry, science, and surrealist theatre, Julia and Mamoru and their puppet doubles explore how time and perception shift with size. If your heart beats slower, does time pass differently? What happens when puppeteers grow, but their puppets stay the same? Playful, clever, and visually surprising, Size Matters is a joyful, mind-bending journey through time, perspective, and control.
Review Extracts
The Scotsman (Joyce McMillan) ★★★★
"a hugely inventive puppet extravaganza"
"a fantastic50-minute explosion of thoughts and ideas"
"Iriguchi has assembled a remarkable team to create a wholly original, memorable and disturbing show, which also has a fine sense of its own absurdity."
"The puppets are sensational, alternative versions of Iriguchi and Darrouy that almost look more like them than they do themselves"
The Herald (Neil Cooper) ★★★★
"Surreal search for meaning is somewhere between Monty Python and Pirandello"
"As things come full circle and the cycle begins again, what emerges is a close up snapshot of what it means to be human, whoever is pulling the strings."
